The Importance Of Fiber Optical Patchchords

Optical fiber patchcords are usually double fiber cables that use the similar connector type as well optical fiber type for connection purpose. However it must be kept in mind that the fiber patch cord should definitely meet all the necessary requirements of the cable transmission as well the physical cable specifications of TIA/EIA-568B.
It is the TIA/EIA-568B that helps in setting the overall performance specifications for the optical fiber patchcords being recognized in the premises cabling standards. These days, the fiber patch cables are normally used at cross-connects for connecting the optical fiber links. However, they are also used as the necessary equipment for connecting the telecommunications devices for backbone and horizontal cabling purpose.
The optical fiber based patch cables are basically used for interconnection and cross-connection for equipments. However, the process should be followed as defined in the TIA/EIA-568B. Follow the placement and connection of the Positions. The Position A should go to the Position B on every optical fiber. Remember, the connector that needs to be plugged into the receiver should be at the Position A and the other connector (the one that connects the transmitter) should be at the Position B. It must be kept in mind that fiber optic patch cord and fiber optic jumper are totally different objects. Patch cord is basically a double fibered cable. However, it has often been noticed that the term is used to describe single fibered cables.  According to IEEE 802.3, the term Fiber Jumper can be defined as a sort of optical jumper cable assembly that is used for bi-directional transmission as well information receiving purpose. Also, it should be noted that the fiber jumper can well be a single or multi-fiber cable.
Transmitter jumpers are those where the jumper cables gets connected to the overall light emitting resource. Those fiber cables connected to the fiber optic power meter are often termed as receiver jumper. Test fiber jumpers are also referred to as reference jumpers. Fiber jumpers are always critical part of the fiber optic test equipment setup.
